The holiday season is here and what better way to kick it off than by having some crunchy, chocolatey and minty popcorn? This cute treat comes together nice and easy, and could perhaps even be a fun thing to whip up together as a family – provided an adult supervises the double boiler on the stove, that is. The end result is perfect to serve in a big bowl when sitting down on the couch on a Saturday night to watch a Christmas movie, for example, but also as part of a party spread. We just love the look of the crushed up candy cane and all the childhood memories that are being brought to life.

Nu är det juletider och vad kan möjligtvis passa bättre att snaska på då än härligt krispiga, chokladiga och pepparmintiga popcorn? Detta söta (i dubbel bemärkelse) julgodis är så enkelt att svänga ihop, och kan definitivt vara något för hela familjen att göra tillsammans – ja, under förutsättning att en vuxen håller ett öga på vattenbadet på spisen så ingen bränner sig. Slutresultatet är det perfekta snackset att servera i en stor skål när det är dags att slå sig ner i soffan en lördagskväll (kanske till och med framför en julfilm!), men passar lika bra till ett adventsparty. Vi älskar hur de krossade polkagrisarna påminner om barndomens jular. Ett så enkelt trick för att få till den rätta känslan.

Saffron Caramel Popcorn

Mike pointed something out to me the other day – something fairly obvious but, you know, nothing I had really given much thought before. Popcorn is just a whole grain popped to deliciousness. Ha! In search for less refined and processed products, and maybe especially in the snacks department, popcorn is… a whole food. Pure and simple. It’s brilliant! It’s also one of our favorite snacks in front of a movie. And now, finally, we have them here in a Christmas edition (which might not qualify for a particularly healthy snack, but what can you do?). I love caramel flavor. Always has, always will. Salted caramel ice cream is my go-to during the warmer half of the year, and as I kid, I’d go for caramel sauce over chocolate sauce any day. Yes, it can be overly sweet. But boy, it’s good. And one of the good things about making your own caramel-flavored food items is that you can sweeten it to your liking. You get all the same flavors but just a little less of that tongue-rolling sweetness shock.
